Grandiloquent heron[1] flies through field of view at dusk, Grand Island, West River Road, 30July08.
I was taking this picture, and others, of an interesting cloud-color combination when a large, loud, and grand heron — flying downriver — started making a racket and then appeared a few second later, landing stage right on the bank of the Niagara River.
Grandiloquent is a word meaning bombastic, my dictionary says. Here, grandiloquent is roughly equal to Grand + loudly eloquent. Something like the island and the bird.
I normally would not post a picture with an image so small, but the story deserves to be told. [↩]
